Yamadera (山寺) is a scenic temple located in the mountains northeast of Yamagata City. The temple grounds extend high up a steep mountainside, from where there are great views down onto the valley. The temple was founded over a thousand years ago in 860 as a temple of the Tendai sect under the official name Risshakuji. Its popular name, Yamadera, literally means "mountain temple" in Japanese.
Yamagata is one of the best Sake producing place in Japan. You can learn how Sake taste good is and try to taste some Sake.
Gassan Pole Pole Resort offers Luxury and cozy looks villa. Every each cabin has living room, 2 bed rooms, bathroom, and kitchen.
Yudono-san is one of the three mountains of Dewa Sanzan, and its shrine is considered to be a kind of inner sanctum. In fact, Yudono-san is so sacred that one is neither to talk nor hear of what happens inside the shrine.
Despite its secrecy and mystery, Yudono-san is relatively easily accessible via a toll road. Located in a valley below the summit, the shrine is only 200 meters from the parking lot. The traditional approach, however, is more challenging, consisting of a descent via a steep hiking trail from the summit of Gas-san.
Yudono-san's shrine maintains a strict ban on photography. Visitors must walk a short final portion of stoned pathway from the bus stop to enter the shrine itself, where they are asked to remove their shoes to begin purification rites in their bare feet. Rather than divulge any more of Yudono-san's secret interior, we recommend travelers make their own visit to this impressive shrine.
Like Gas-san, Yudono-san closes during the winter months, although it is still feasible to visit in poor weather thanks to its road access. Because Yudono-san is the mountain symbolizing rebirth, it is typically the final Dewa Sanzan shrine visited by pilgrims after Haguro-san (birth) and Gas-san (death).
Here is home to two interesting temples: Dainichibo and Churenji. These two temples are the sites of mummy, men who transformed their own bodies into mummies while still living. Their mummified bodies are on display in Dainichibo and Churenji, close to Yudono-san.
Yamagata is one of the best rice producing place in Japan. You can enjoy farmer's delicious rice and vegetables in their residence.
Haguro-san's main shrine holds the deities from all three Dewa Sanzan shrines, making it the most important of the three. The main building, Sanjin Gosaiden, features the thickest thatched roof in Japan, over two meters thick.
About ten minutes into the walking trail stands a five storied pagoda surrounded by cedars. A classical text states that this National Treasure was first built in 937.
The Sankyo Warehouses (山居倉庫, Sankyo Sōko) are a complex of rice warehouses in Sakata that now also serves as a tourist attraction with a rice museum, picturesque grounds and a shop selling souvenirs and local produce.
Originally dating to 1893, the complex is a long row of 15 storehouses, of which most are still in use as storehouses for the rice from the Shonai Plain. The area has become popular with visitors not only for its historical importance, but also for its picturesque surroundings that include a Zelkova tree-flanked path along the perimeter and nice views along the riverbank.
Yamagata face on sea of Japan and fisher catch fresh fishes every morning, so that you can eat fresh Sushi even low cost in Yamagata.
Our tour chose the best Sushi restaurant in Yamagata. Sushi master make Sushi in front of you.
Gas-san is the highest of the three mountains of Dewa Sanzan. Its mountaintop shrine lies 1984 meters above sea level, is closed for the majority of the year due to heavy snowfall and is inaccessible by road. Only the summer months see hundreds of pilgrims and tourists hiking up to this impressive shrine.
The paved road to Gas-san ends with a parking lot at the 8th Station, from where the final five kilometers to the summit must be completed on foot. From the top, pilgrims traditionally continue down the other side to Yudono-san. Because Gas-san is the mountain symbolizing death, it is typically the second shrine visited by pilgrims, after Haguro-san (birth), and before Yudono-san (rebirth).
We go to summit of Mt.Uba which can be reached by chair lift and by walk only 30 mints. Everybody can go there.
If guest wants to go summit of Mt.Gassan, we also can arrange trekking tour.

If you come to Yamagata from Tokyo, the Yamagata shinkansen is very convenient. There is 1 train an hour leaves Tokyo, and because it runs at roughly 300k/m (186mph) you will arrive in Yamagata in about 2½ hours. The cabin is very quiet and there is very little vibration which makes for a pleasant ride. As you ride, a cart selling food and drinks will frequently pass by, so you may want to try the famous beef lunch box (bento).
Before you get to Yamagata you must reach Tokyo station, which is the Yamagata bullet trains (shinkansen) home station. There are several ways of arriving in Japan, so let us give you a simple explanation for each situation.
If you are coming from Haneda Airport you must ride the Tokyo monorail until its last stop at Hamamatsuchou and from there you will transfer to the Yamanote line. It is 3 stops (stations) to Tokyo station, which takes only about 5 minutes from Hamamatsuchou. First of all, when you arrive in Haneda Airport you should go to the JR ticket counter and purchase a JR East Pass (5 days all you can ride) to Yamagata. Please rest assured that all airport ticket counter personal can speak English.
If you are coming from Narita Airport, the easiest and fastest way is to take the Narita Express, straight to Tokyo station and the travel time is roughly 1 hour. First of all, when you arrive at Narita Airport you should go to the JR ticket counter and purchase a JR East Pass (5 days all you can ride) Yamagata.
Then let us know your arrival time in Yamagata and we will be waiting for you at the station to continue the journey by car.
